Pierangelo Pelucchi

Pierangelo Pelucchi, a distinguished Italian opera conductor, is a recipient of the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. He currently serves as Vice President of the European Choral Association; a professor of Conducting and Art Direction at the Conservatorio statale di musica di Brescia "Luca Marenzio"; and a visiting professor at several European music conservatories.

He graduated from the Conservatorio statale di musica di Bologna "Giovan Battista Martini", the Conservatorio statale di musica di Verona "Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco", the Conservatorio statale di musica di Bari "Niccolò Piccinni", and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, earning eight master's degrees in Piano, Composition, Choral Music and Choral Conducting, Art Direction, Orchestral Conducting, and Harpsichord, among others.

Professor Pelucchi is the most authoritative interpreter of the operatic works of Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti and is responsible for revising and recording Donizetti's compositions. In 1997, commissioned by the Spanish government, he revised and conducted Donizetti's unpublished opera Alahor in Granada. In 2003 (to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg), he conducted the contemporary premiere of Donizetti's opera Pietro il Grande, zar di tutte le Russieat the Saint Petersburg Opera. In the same year, in the Nervi Hall of the Vatican, he conducted Lorenzo Perosi's The Passion according to St. Markfor Pope John Paul II. In July 2009 (to mark the 200th anniversary of Joseph Haydn's death), he conducted a concert of works by Haydn and Mozart at the Vienna State Opera, among other performances.

Since 1990, he has represented Italy as a jury member for numerous prestigious international competitions. In 2002, he served as Vice President of the European Choral Association and Editor-in-Chief of the renowned international journal L’Opera. In recognition of his contributions to music, Professor Pelucchi has been awarded the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and the Knight of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus.
