China Conservatory of Music Delegation Visits Hungary and Italy for Exchange and Cooperation

From December 8th to 15th, 2024, Wang Xiaoyi, Vice President of the China Conservatory of Music, led a delegation on a visit to several music institutions in Hungary and Italy, conducting a series of intercollegiate exchange and cooperation negotiation activities.
The delegation members included Fu Xiaodong, Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Library Director of the conservatory, Jiang Chun, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Liu Juan, Vice Dean of the School of Education, and Professor Zhang Zhe from the School of Education.
The first stop of the visit was Budapest, Hungary. The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Hungary and the Budapest China Cultural Center. Subsequently, the delegation visited the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary, where they held talks with Vice President Csaba Kutnyanszky and other responsible persons. Both sides exchanged views on the educational characteristics and cooperative visions of their respective institutions and jointly signed an intercollegiate cooperation agreement.

 

 

On December 10th, the delegation arrived in Italy and visited the Milan Conservatory (Conservatorio di Milano "Giuseppe Verdi"), the Brescia Conservatory, and the Bari Conservatory successively.
At the Milan Conservatory, President Massimiliano Baggio met with the delegation. The two parties reviewed the foundation of the previously signed intercollegiate cooperation agreement and discussed the potential for further deepening cooperation, particularly in the field of opera creation and performance.

 

 

At the Brescia Conservatory, the delegation met with the newly appointed President Massimo Cotroneo, Vice President Alberto Baldrighi, and the school's management. The talks centered on specific topics such as faculty and student exchanges, credit transfer for professional practice, and cooperation in opera and symphony. During the visit, Professor Zhang Zhe also conducted preliminary discussions regarding the "Sino-Italian Music Festival" planned to be held at the conservatory in 2025.

 

 

At the Bari Conservatory, President Corrado Roselli and the Director of the International Exchange Office, Francesca Vinci, held talks with the delegation. The two sides exchanged views on the conservatory's development strategy and future cooperation directions, reaching a preliminary intent to establish intercollegiate cooperation.

 

 

On December 13th, the delegation visited the Rome headquarters of the Italian Education Center, held talks with the new Secretary-General, Ms. Annalisa, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The Secretary-General stated that the center would promote the development of related exchange projects with the China Conservatory of Music.

 

 

Finally, on December 14th, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Italy, where they exchanged views with Cultural Counsellor Zhang Lingxiao on advancing exchanges and cooperation between China and Italy in the fields of music education and the arts.

 

 

This series of visits, through discussions and the signing of agreements, aimed to promote mutual understanding between music institutions in China, Hungary, and Italy, and to advance substantive cooperation in areas such as faculty-student exchanges, joint performances, and academic research.
